***NEWS UPDATE*** KEY LARGO, FL : On February 4, 2013, Chris was granted a continuance to April 4, 2013 with trial set for April 22, 2013. Chris’ defense team filed a Motion to Dismiss the Animal Enterprise Disruption charge under the Florida Animal Enterprise Act the State has brought against him. This Motion will be argued sometime in April 2013, there is no date set at this point in time.

As with all cases involving charges against activists, what affects one of us, affects us all. It is so critical that everyone pull together and unite around this common cause – for Chris, for the movement, and for the animals. Thank You!!

***NEWS UPDATE*** KEY LARGO, FL : On November 4, 2012, lead counsel for Chris’ legal team appeared in court to request a continuance on several grounds, one of which was the need to deposition new people who surfaced in recent depositions. It is apparent that a certain federal agency has been involved in Chris’ case prior to his arrest last August. We will be requesting further subpoenas to question those individual(s) involved. Additionally, as the State is well aware, we are working on a motion to dismiss the felony FAEPA charge — in the State’s words “an unsuccessful motion to dismiss”. This will soon be filed before the presiding Judge to rule on (not the State (!)). The Judge granted us a continuance to February 4, 2013!

This gives the legal team some breathing room to solidify Chris’ defense for trial on February 18, 2013. This entire ordeal is very stressful for Chris and those close to him, and without your support, it would be very hard for anyone to cope with the daily oppression that has been a fact of Chris’ life over the past year. It’s also an everyday event for the people who are intent on prosecuting Chris – they are watching, they are listening, and they are waiting. But no matter what — we will never back down from exercising our rights and doing what is right. We want to thank all of Chris’ supporters for their loyalty — and we promise you, we will prevail at the end of this journey and come out stronger than ever! In unity and solidarity always!

***NEWS UPDATE*** October 1, 2012, KEY LARGO, FL : On today’s date, lead counsel for Chris’ legal team appeared in court to request a continuance on several grounds, one of which was the need to deposition (interview) the remaining witness in this matter. The continuance was granted. This is good news for the defense, as it gives our side more time to prepare for trial, file motions, etc. Most importantly, it allows us more time to focus on local initiatives that will raise greater awareness of the case, and help expose the absolute mala fide charges against Chris.
